How to schedule IGTV videos in advance from your computer

Do you create videos for Instagram TV? I bet you’ve been struggling to upload your videos to IGTV manually each time. 

That’s one of the reasons why I haven’t utilized IGTV. BUT, now that I can schedule my videos in advance I’ll probably start repurposing my YouTube videos there.  It’ll be convenient because now I can create a batch day for that.

Now for what you’ve been waiting for…. 

I’m going to show you how to upload videos to IGTV with facebook creator studio.

Log into Facebook Creator Studio

First, we need to log into Facebook Creator studio. This is the only way to schedule IGTV videos in advance from your computer. 

If you go to Instagram to upload, you won’t have scheduling available. Oh, and I want to mention that scheduling is only available to businesses or should I say pages. It’s not for personal facebook accounts.

Once you log in, you’ll be in the facebook section. Toggle to Instagram by clicking the Instagram icon at the top of the page.

How to upload your video to IGTV

Now, we’re going to upload your video to IGTV. Click on the ‘Create Post’ button and choose IGTV.

Upload your video to IGTV. Add your title and description. If you want to post now, then you can post it now.

How to schedule IGTV videos in advance from your computer

This is what we’ve all been waiting for. Here’s how to schedule IGTV videos in advance. Instead of hitting ‘publish’, we’re going to hit the dropdown menu and choose ‘schedule’.

You can pick any date and time that works for you. Once you select your date, click schedule and you’re all set.

#1 you can cut a clip of your video and upload it to your feed to promote your video. I think this is a smart way to promote your videos.

#2 you can just repurpose your YouTube thumbnail image and add it to your feed. I actually don’t like this option because I like to have a pretty Instagram feed.

I actually like to take the still image of myself that I use from my thumbnail because I need to add more of myself on my feed.

No matter what choice you pick, you can summarize what your YouTube video is about and add it to your Instagram caption.

If you’re just getting started creating videos, then the first type of videos you should create is *drum roll please* ‘HOW TO” videos. Here are 3 free options to record your computer screen for your service-based business to get you started on creating tutorials.

3 free options to record your computer screen for your service-based business

The first options is for Mac users. It’s also the option I use the most, and that’s Quicktime.  Quicktime comes already installed on your iMac and MacBook, which I have both.

I don’t know if it comes with iPhone because I went rogue and bought a Samsung instead. Sorry iPhone fans, but I’m team Samsung on this.

Let me know in the comments if you know if Quicktime is also preinstalled on iPhones.

If you’re not a Mac user, then these next 2 options are for you.

The first is Zoom. I use it for discovery calls, calls with my clients, and coffee chats. I’ve also attended a lot of meetings on Zoom. But did you know you can share your screen on it?

Yes, so if you already use zoom for client meetings, then you should definitely try it for recording your computer screen.

The 3rd option is the best if you don’t want to download an app to your computer. It’s totally on the internet. In fact, you have to have a Google account because it’s a Chrome extension.

This one is called Loom. You can sign up using your Google account or your Slack account.

I know a lot of business owners use Loom to record tutorials for their employees. I’ve used it to send a quick video to my client on how to do things on YouTube.

The other great thing about Loom is you edit your video after you record it, so it’s super convenient.

My video editing process

My biggest goal when editing and creating designs for videos is to help you attract your dream audience and become THE authority in your field. When I first envisioned my video editing process for this service, it was geared towards YouTube, but I have since expanded to other social media. The clients that I’m currently working with wanted videos created for Instagram, Instagram stories, and Facebook, so I added those options into this package.

My other goal is to focus on adding lifestyle elements to videos for entrepreneurs. Why? Because your audience wants to connect with you and once they do, they’ll want to follow/subscribe to your account and stay updated. I don’t want you to create a one and done video (those videos people look for to learn something, and when they do, they leave your channel and forget about you). I want you to create an audience that is excited to watch your videos consistently. Now that you know my main goals, here’s what you can expect from my video editing package.

Doing the homework

Once you book my service, you have a little homework to do. The first thing I do when you’re booked as a client is adding you to a project in Asana. Asana is a project management system and it’s where we’ll be doing all of our communication (you’ll still get email notifications, but through Asana).

Don’t worry, it’s FREE and easy to use. I’ll assign you to your task (your homework) and you’ll also see where I am and when things are due for your project. This makes it easier to communicate and manage all our files.

After you get access to your project in Asana, you’ll see that you have a questionnaire to fill out. This questionnaire helps me figure out what style to edit your videos in, your branding, who your audience is, and so on. I need this completed before I start editing your videos.

Also, on the questionnaire, there’s a section that lets me know how you’ll deliver your videos. You’ll let me know if you use Dropbox, Google Drive, Onedrive or any other cloud storage you have. If you want me to upload your videos to YouTube, you can provide access to your login or you can add my email address to your account.

Once you finish the questionnaire, you just mark the task as completed in Asana. The next homework assignment is to give me your brand style guide or elements of your brand (if applicable).
