Hey,
If you’re reading this, you already know that making videos for your business will help your business grow. Everywhere you look your competitors are creating YouTube videos, Instagram videos, Reels, TikTok, and more. BUT knowing and doing are two different things.
If you’re like me, you’ve sat on this idea for a long time. It took me 2 years to finally create my first YouTube video. Like me, you’re probably procrastinating using different excuses to discourage you from taking the first step in making your first video.
Taking the first step is hard…
Anxiety kicks in just at the thought of being on camera. You’re an introvert and being on camera is hell on earth. You don’t think this is for you.
You don’t know what to talk about. No one wants to hear what you have to say and you’re afraid of looking stupid on camera. In the end, it’s better to avoid being on camera.
You have a crazy busy schedule already! You’re juggling clients, social media, blogging, and life in general. You don’t have time to add videos into the mix.
Thinking about all the tech and equipment already gives you nightmares. Should I use the latest Canon? Should I buy a Yeti mic? Do I need to buy all these lights?
Ugh, so frustrating!
You know YouTube is great. You want to use it for visibility since it’s a search engine and already has a big audience. But, you’re confused about how to use it and where you should get started.
If you take that one step and then another, 100 steps from now, you’ll accomplish your goal.
Anxiety won’t stop you from being on camera. Each time you show up on camera, you’ll become comfortable and with each experience, it’ll become something fun and easy to do.
Once you hit record, words will start flowing out with ease. You never knew you could talk so much on a topic. Instead, you’ll wonder why you don’t have enough time to cover all the topics you want to talk about.
You’ll think ‘why didn’t I start creating videos before?’ It saves you so much time to show up and give high-quality content and it helps you make better content across your platforms. Content creation has never been so easy.
You really just need your phone and the right lighting to film. You’ll think about how you wasted so much time adding equipment to your amazon wishlist. But you still might buy that vlog kit because it’s hella convenient.
Now that you’re all set up on YouTube, you can totally conquer the platform and do it on autopilot. You just have to upload and schedule your video and keep going on with your day.
When I first started my business, all I heard were crickets. I did all the things I was supposed to do, like creating blog posts, posting on social media, and sending out newsletters, but there was nothing. I thought I was just bad at doing business and maybe this wasn’t for me since I’m an introvert.
Even though I thought creating YouTube videos was a good idea, I was still full of doubt. I’m an introvert so I won’t do well on camera. I’m not personable enough, funny enough, pretty enough, or thin enough. I have a monotone voice and I’m not a speaker. I’m a better writer instead, so I should stick to blogging.
I already have enough work to do, filming videos just seems like it’ll take too much time.
Being on video was really hard for me. Even though creating videos was fast and easy, it drained my energy. I’m a perfectionist so behind the scenes, you don’t see all the bloopers I made or how hard I try to not be monotone. I had to find routines that would get me hyped up for filming and recharge my energy after filming.
After I created my routines, it got easier and it became worth it. After uploading a couple of videos, I started getting more engagement. People would leave comments on my videos and I would get questions from my email subscribers.
The biggest reward came from the changes in myself. I became more confident and a better speaker. Being on camera and speaking about branding and creating videos actually helped me build my brand and spread my message.
This led to being better at speaking to people on camera and leading to other opportunities like hosting an Instagram takeover, becoming a speaker at 2 summits, and creating guest posts (like this one). There were even opportunities that I’ve refused because I didn’t have the time to fit them into my schedule.
I know I’m not the only one who thought being on YouTube was impossible. That’s why I create Skyrocket your business with YouTube. I wanted to let you know it’s possible to create videos for your business without being overwhelmed or having anxiety over being on camera and having mad tech skills.
