Today I’m going to talk about using a teleprompter for your YouTube videos. When I first started my videos, I thought it would be so much easier if I could use a teleprompter, so I added Little Prompter to my Amazon wishlist because it could be used for webcams, phones, and an actual camera. After sitting in my Amazon wishlist for almost a year, who knew that my sister would actually get me one for Christmas?!

Little Prompter set-up

Setting up Little Prompter was actually easy once I realized how to follow the instructions to set it up. The instructions are straightforward and it doesn’t really take a lot to install it. To use this teleprompter, you’ll need a tripod. It ONLY comes with a teleprompter. I film all my YouTube videos on a webcam so I specifically set up the teleprompter for my webcam.

How to use Little Prompter

The first thing, of course, is you need a script. Before you use a teleprompter for your YouTube videos, write out your script first, then you need a teleprompter app for your phone. I have a Samsung phone so the app that I used is Simple Teleprompter. This, of course, is an Android app. I don’t know if it’s also an iPhone app.

Once you have a teleprompter app, you just have to copy and paste your script into the app and then you can just start it. Well, of course here are the settings that I had it on. The main thing that you have to look out for is mirroring the text because the teleprompter reflects the text.

Once you import your script into your teleprompter app, you can just start it. Make sure you’re already filming and then you see your text scroll in front of the camera. Basically you’re reading the script as it strolls in front of the camera lens.

While you’re reading the text it makes it look like you’re actually talking to the camera when you’re really reading the words in front of the camera. The text does not show up on your video.

My thoughts on Little Prompter and on using a teleprompter for my YouTube videos

Well, I actually thought Little Prompter was awesome. It actually did a good job. I mean, it’s only a teleprompter. It did what it’s supposed to do. The only problem I had was the little black bar stick that’s supposed to hold the actual teleprompter on the tripod stuck out too far and showed up on my video. But that didn’t really bother me much because I could just edit it out later.

I had no issues with Little Prompter. It works and it is easy to use, but will I use it?

The answer is probably not. Honestly, I didn’t really like using a teleprompter for my YouTube videos. So, to my sister, thanks for supporting me and my YouTube channel, but that teleprompter will probably be collecting dust for a while. Thank you to the rest of my family for supporting me too. I don’t want them to feel left out.

The reason why I don’t like using a teleprompter for my YouTube videos is because I felt like a robot while I was using it. While I was reading the words, it was hard for me to express my facial expressions. My facial expressions were stiff.

It made it really hard to watch myself when I was editing my videos. When I’m filming, I want to show my personality, even though these videos are mostly just tutorials on how to make videos for YouTube and branding your videos. I still want to show myself and my personality. Using a teleprompter got in the way of that.

I don’t know if I mentioned this earlier, but I did want to say a plus for Little Prompter. Using a teleprompter really does save a lot of time when it comes to filming. Compared to my filming times without a teleprompter, it cut filming down in half because you’re just reading your script so you’re not going to forget your lines or the important things you want to talk about.

I guess, maybe I’m not good at multitasking. A newscaster, when they’re reading a teleprompter, can probably show more emotions while they’re speaking. But for me on the other hand, maybe I’m not that talented. So just a thought, if you want to save time on filming, a teleprompter is really helpful.

Video Editing and Design for SEEKAYSEE

This project is kind of a passion project. I’ve always wanted to step into the realm of beauty, fashion, and lifestyle vlogs.

I stumbled upon SeeKaySee on YouTube searching for cruelty-free beauty tutorials. I saw her doing one of her creative makeup tutorials and started stalking her on Instagram.

We messaged each other a few times and I started going to her live Twitch streams. If you haven’t been to a live Twitch stream, it’s amazing. It’s like attending a live show and interacting with the host and other people in the chat.

The downside of Twitch streams is they are long and their focus is mainly on gaming, but I think it definitely has potential (for business and other genres).

Getting back on topic, I thought it was a waste not to create shorter videos of her makeup tutorials and add them to YouTube, and that’s how this collaboration came about.

I started repurposing Chris’s 3-hour Twitch videos so they could become short makeup tutorials for YouTube. This sort of morphed into other video ideas.

Check out the video below of funny moments from SeeKaySee. I had fun editing together her funniest moments and adding graphics to match the mood.

Today I’m going to be talking about YouTube video editing. Specifically, I’m going to give you a behind the scenes look at how I edit my videos quickly. So I know I’ve talked about simple video editing or video made easy in a video before but I thought it would be easier to show you how I actually edit my video.

01 Get organized

Before I get into how I edit my videos quickly for YouTube. I wanted to talk about planning and filming. Those two have to be organized before you can quickly edit your videos. So if that’s a mess, then this video editing isn’t going to work.

Open Adobe Premiere and name your project after the video that you’re actually editing. A few weeks ago, I talked about organizing your video files. You’re going to add your Adobe file (or your software file) to the folder called ‘Editing’ your YouTube video file. Make sure all your files are named correctly. Even your footage should be named with your final video title and then numbered in sequential order.

My biggest goal when editing and creating designs for videos is to help you attract your dream audience and become THE authority in your field. When I first envisioned my video editing process for this service, it was geared towards YouTube, but I have since expanded to other social media. The clients that I’m currently working with wanted videos created for Instagram, Instagram stories, and Facebook, so I added those options into this package.

My other goal is to focus on adding lifestyle elements to videos for entrepreneurs. Why? Because your audience wants to connect with you and once they do, they’ll want to follow/subscribe to your account and stay updated. I don’t want you to create a one and done video (those videos people look for to learn something, and when they do, they leave your channel and forget about you). I want you to create an audience that is excited to watch your videos consistently. Now that you know my main goals, here’s what you can expect from my video editing package.

Doing the homework

Once you book my service, you have a little homework to do. The first thing I do when you’re booked as a client is adding you to a project in Asana. Asana is a project management system and it’s where we’ll be doing all of our communication (you’ll still get email notifications, but through Asana).

Don’t worry, it’s FREE and easy to use. I’ll assign you to your task (your homework) and you’ll also see where I am and when things are due for your project. This makes it easier to communicate and manage all our files.

After you get access to your project in Asana, you’ll see that you have a questionnaire to fill out. This questionnaire helps me figure out what style to edit your videos in, your branding, who your audience is, and so on. I need this completed before I start editing your videos.

Also, on the questionnaire, there’s a section that lets me know how you’ll deliver your videos. You’ll let me know if you use Dropbox, Google Drive, Onedrive or any other cloud storage you have. If you want me to upload your videos to YouTube, you can provide access to your login or you can add my email address to your account.

Once you finish the questionnaire, you just mark the task as completed in Asana. The next homework assignment is to give me your brand style guide or elements of your brand (if applicable).

How do you get people to watch your videos?

Well, they have to find you first.

Today I’m going to show you how to get found on YouTube. So, I talked about how you need to use keywords that your target audience searches for in your title, your description, and your tags.

Well, how do you know that you’re using the right keywords? The answer is TubeBuddy. Let’s not lie, I’m pretty lazy. I mean– Super efficient. I don’t have the time to waste searching online for the best keywords, researching titles, researching tags, all this stuff. Because you know, I have a business to run. I have clients to work with, I have video content to make, blog posts to put out, newsletters, social media, and all the other things that I want to do for my business.

Instead, I use TubeBuddy to research tags and headlines for my video.

So, here’s how to use TubeBuddy for YouTube.

Okay, so first we’re going to research titles for YouTube videos. So, this is basically how I come up with my headlines, titles, whatever you want to call it for YouTube. One of the videos I created was about uploading your YouTube videos, so I’m going to start with ‘upload videos to YouTube’.

Then you just click Show Keyword Score, and it’s bad. So, I do not want to use this for my YouTube title. Maybe ‘how to upload videos to YouTube’. And I’m going to show keywords, but you’ll also see these related searches, ‘how to upload videos to YouTube from Xbox One’, ‘from iPhone’, ‘from PS4’. Let me click on one of these. Ugh. It got better but it’s not great. This one says very good, so I went ahead and used this as my title for my video.

How to create a YouTube end screen

So you want people to keep watching your videos after they’ve found you? Well, there’s an easy way to do that, and that’s end screens.

How to add end screens to your videos.

YouTube is great, because once people find your videos, and they like you, they’ll binge-watch all your videos, so why not make it easy for them by adding an end screen?

Before we get started, make sure you’re logged into your YouTube channel, of course, and just so you know, you can actually add an end screen to a video that you’re uploading, or an already uploaded video.

So let me show you how to do that. First, of course, we need to upload a video, now you want to create an end screen. So, the point of the end screen is to keep people watching your videos, so they can keep watching your most recent video, your best video, and you can also have a subscribe icon.

So on the right hand side, I already put in the subscribe button. I’m going to add an element, I’m going to add ‘Video or Playlist’, and I’m going to put ‘Most Recent Upload’.
